Roger Williams Brewing Corporation: 1933-1940

The Roger Williams Brewing Corporation was one out of five breweries in Rhode Island to open it's doors after the repeal of prohibition in 1933. It was located at 61-71 Troy Street in the Olneyville section of Providence.  Established by Joseph Bertolaccinni, the brewery made Roger Williams Ale, Pale Ale, Lager and Porter. It also produced Westminster Half Stock, Westminster India Pale Ale, Down East Special XXXXXX Cream Ale, Old Brew Cream Ale and Union Cream Ale. The Roger Williams Brewing Corporation hired Julius Cabisius as it's brewmaster. He was a graduate of the of the brewmaster's school of the Wahl Henius Institute in 1895. The motto of the Roger Williams Brewing Corporation was "The Beer of Good Cheer."

Due to fierce market competition, the brewery only survived five years, closing it's doors forever in 1940. The brewery building still stands, but it is a mere skeleton of it's former existance. It can be seen adjacent to Route 6 as one travels west along the Olneyville bend in the expressway.
