Consumer's Brewing Company: 1933-1935
Hollen Brewing Company: 1936-1938

After the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, the Consumer's Brewing Company opened it's doors and began brewing in the Hillsgrove section of Warwick, Rhode Island. In addition to Consumer's Beer and Ale, it produced Good Luck Ale which promoted a horse racing theme. For an advertising mascot, the young brewery chose a stately father figure and "Ask Father" as it's slogan.  Apparently, not too many people did ask good old dad for his advice, (or they didn't like it when they got it) and the fledgling brewery faltered. New ownership took over operations within just two years.

In 1936, the brewery became known as the Hollen Brewing Company. It produced a line of Hollenbru and Canadian Ales and heavily marketed it's products through various beautiful art deco style signs typical to the period. But even with this best effort, it too fell short of competing successfully in Rhode Island's ale market. The Hollen Brewing Company would close it's forever in 1938.

The building which housed these two extremely short lived breweries still stands. It is currently the Leviton Manufacturing Company on Jefferson Boulevard.
