| The Brewery As It Appeared After The Fire Of 1917 |
This little brewery was once located a short distance from Roger Williams Park
in Providence, Rhode Island. It stood at 1100 Elmwood Avenue at the corner of McKinley Street. The brewery produced
ale, lager, porter and malt extract. It claimed "Chemists find them" (their beers) "clean and pure".
These beverages were available by both the keg and in amber colored bottles.
After the Park Brewing Company closed in 1913, the building housed the Eastern Film Company
which produced some of the nation's first silent movies. These films included comedies, westerns,
documentaries, and war movies.
Sadly, the brewery building was completely destroyed by fire on August 23,
1917.
Today, there is nothing left that even remotely resembles the Park Brewing Company or the neighborhood
it once occupied. Roger Williams Park is still there, but the brewery site is now occupied by the Elmwood Avenue
exit ramp extending off the Huntington Expressway (Route 10).
